Contrary to popular belief, everything is not possible on the internet. Kasino Creative Annual About The Internet shows things that can’t be done online. Kasino Creative Studio’s third annual is a coffee-table-book-cum-analogue-tablet as well as the world’s best photo blog that doesn’t exist. World-class photographers contributing to the annual include Mikko Ryhänen, Knotan, Juliana Harkki, Sanna Charles, Sauli Sirviö, Matti Tanskanen, Pietari Hatanpää, Anya Schiller, Arsi Ikäheimonen and Jussi Puikkonen. You cannot… Kasino Creative Annual About The Internet is distributed globally to selected retailers by Motto Distribution. In Finland it is exclusively sold at Design Forum Finland and all the Stockmann and Akateeminen stores. The Limited Edition annual — only 404 handmade copies — is printed in Lahti, Finland by Aldus and published on Thursday March 29th. And hey, we even made a little radio commercial to celebrate the world wild web. Dig it!
In addition to the Annual, we launched a physical Facebook — the @BAR — for the duration of March on Kalevankatu 13, downtown Helsinki. The bar is like the internet: a place to hang out, a chat room, and an endless source of inspiration. The @BAR’s main collaborator is one of the world’s leading alcohol brands, and the bar’s menu of e-drinks changes weekly. The drinks are designed and served by Mauricio Allende and his team of cocktail specialists at BarBäk Consulting. The @BAR’s interior is designed by Klaus Aalto & Tero Kuitunen together with Kasino Creative Studio, and it will evolve in layers just like the internet has over the decades. The main window is the bar’s screensaver, updated in turns by four artists: conceptual artist Mikko Kuorinki (opening 1.3.), illustrator Rami Niemi (opening 8.3.), fashion designer Daniel Palillo (with Laura Laine, opening 15.3.), artist Katja Tukiainen (opening 22.3.) — and Kasino Creative Studio (annual launch 29.3.)! The window’s technical details are handled by Cmykistävä, and the bartenders are clothed by fashion label Minni f. Ronya. For the soundscape, Bipolar Pastor (from MVSEVM, Discobelle Records / Top Billin) and Banjosaurus (aka Les Gillettes, Kitsune / New Judas) create the world’s longest mixtape Catalogue of Somnor, Parts I–IV. Last minute adjustments to the ever-changing look of the bar was handled in collaboration with pahka-specialists Janic Leino & Sonja Immonen. Thanks, everybody!
